Design research group Robots In Gastronomy debuted a one-of-a-kind, custom-designed food cart in Istanbul, which serves up 3D-printed chocolate snacks.
Having introduced their MakerBot 3D printer at Milan Design Week earlier this year, the group decided to construct a “curvaceous wood pavilion” on wheels to bring the printer on a spin around town.
According to the 3D food printers, “By bringing this technology to the streets, we do not limit the discussion to the general audience of a design biennial. Rather, we allow it to collide with a dynamic city rich in culinary history.”
The unusual-looking food cart does a fine job of attracting the crowds—the white sheets stuck onto its exterior are actually the plastic plates where the chocolates are printed on.
From the world’s first 3D-printing photo booth to a food cart that serves up 3D-printed treats, this is definitely a big year for the technology.
