Artist X-rays Christmas Presents, Shows What Is Inside Without Opening Them

Instead of guessing what is in gift-wrapped Christmas presents, British artist Hugh Turvey has passed them through x-ray to “see” inside them without having to open them.

Dubbed “Xograms”, the images produced through this unconventional photographic process—that does not require a camera—are surreally beautiful and clearly shows the contents of the presents.

Making use of techniques like multiple exposures and chemical processing to manipulate the images, the artist was able to create a series of colour-saturated x-rays that stand in stark contrast to the black-and-white medical x-rays we are more used to.

Find out more about this intriguing photographic process on the artist’s website.
