Molasses Books is a new bookstore in Brooklyn, New York that has an unusual retail model.
Instead of the typical ‘buying and selling’ system, it allows customers to trade their secondhand books for coffee, beer and other books.
According to Brokelyn, it was reported that an average book will fetch a price of US$1-10, while art books and vintage paperbacks are $15-25—depending on their condition and rarity.
Customers will get a third of the book’s resale value in cash, or slightly more for trade or a tab at the bar.
