Furniture Made From Superstorm Sandy’s Debris

Some good has come out of the devastation of Superstorm Sandy—in addition to the stronger community cohesiveness in affected areas, the disaster has also given designers an opportunity to turn the destructive into the creative.

New York-based initiative Reclaim NYC has invited local artists and designers to make furniture out of the debris material found at clean-up sites—these pieces will then be auctioned off to benefit relief effort.

Using reclaimed parts—such as rusty steel sheets and battered garbage cans, the designers produced beautiful, industrial-looking furniture, including lamps and nightstands.

If you are interested making a bid, you can find the details of the auction here.
