Japanese Home Brings 'The Outdoors' Indoors

Japan-based architecture studio ALTS Design Office has designed and constructed a place of residence that brings the outdoors indoors.

The ‘Kofunaki House’ in Shiga, Japan, brings outdoor elements—such as natural light, plants and trees—into its simple interior of light flooring and walls.

Its ambience helps its occupants feel as if they’re always in a garden, and in turn helps them to relax.

The best part of the ‘outdoor-indoor house’ is when seasons change: by being surrounded by the plants, its occupants can feel and observe the change of seasons within their home.

Kofunaki House was made with the premise surrounding nature, and combines the natural and built worlds.
