Levitation and buoyancy ever fascinates us humans, who have neither wings nor weight lighter than the air around us.
Inspired by the Disney Pixar movie ‘UP’, where a house gets lifted into the air by balloons, Christopher Duffy of design studio Duffy London created a whimsical coffee table that looks like balloons are precariously holding up its surface.
‘The UP Coffee Table’ is a playful trompe l’oeil, which gives viewers the impression that a piece of glass is being suspended by small balloons.
It is made of toughened glass, metal resin composite, and toughened steel rods so that the balloons with tails that touch the ground can balance the glass’s weight.
