
Artist Thomas Robson gives famous artworks an update by defacing them.
While the faces of some portraits have been splashed over by white paint, others have elements of design superimposed on them, like colored circles, for example.
These modern elements give each work of art contrast as Robson’s works show how our visual thinking has evolved.
More importantly, these modified paintings serve to comment on the appropriation of art in today’s world, where multiple digital copies of a painting can be made.
