Ben Nunery and his young daughter Olivia have created a touching photo series that pays tribute to their late wife and mother, Ali.
Married in 2009, Ali and Ben decided to have their wedding photos taken in a Cincinnati house which they had just purchased.
However in 2011, Ali passed away from a rare form of lung cancer, leaving Ben and then one-year-old Olivia behind.
After two years on “a rollercoaster of emotions”, Ben and Olivia decided to move out of the house that they once shared with Ali.
Wanting to pay tribute to Ali and the memories in the house before moving out, he asked his sister-in-law Melanie Pace—a professional photographer—to help recreate his old wedding photos, with Olivia taking Ali’s place.
“I was just really looking for a way to say farewell to the house, and have some things that Olivia and I can have to remember the house,” Ben told TODAY.
“It immediately brought up memories of being there the first time,” Ben said. “They were really good memories I cherish and want to remember. In a lot of ways, it felt like Ali was there, and doing that with Olivia, I felt a closeness with both of them.”
