Self-Moving Robotic Walls Redefine Living Spaces And Boundaries





Hong Kong-based architect Otta Ng has developed a series of self-moving robotic walls capable of adapting to the ever-changing needs of people by redefining their living spaces and boundaries.



Called ‘Wallbots’, the adaptable wall system collects real-time information—such as weather, social-networking profiles and behaviors—and positions itself according to the data collected.



The Wallbots are capable of stretching from 1m- to 1.5m-wide by expanding their origami-like skin and kinectic skeleton.



They can move freely and communicate amongst themselves wirelessly, to form ever-changing spatial boundaries.



According to Ng, the Wallbots are able to attach to one another using simple electromagnetic mechanism with infrared positioning feedback.



They are also able to analyze previous experiences and configure themselves for newer scenarios.
