A House Balanced On The Edge Of A Slope

Rotterdam-based Dutch architectural studio MVRDV has recently finished building the “Balancing Barn”, a house that hangs partially over the edge of a slope.

Located by a small lake in Suffolk, England, this unusual house is designed to allow the visitor to experience nature from different perspectives—from ground level and at tree-top level.

The architects have have also affixed a swing to the bottom of the section that hangs over the slope—adding an extra touch of whimsy to the already unconventional building.

Part of the Living Architecture project, the house will soon be available to rent for holidays by the general public.
