UK-based designers David Ben Grünberg and Daniel Woolfson have developed a concept experimental house that changes in shape based on the time of day, season and weather conditions.
Called the ‘D*Haus’, the dynamic can take on eight different shapes, by ‘folding’.
During warmer seasons, rooms could fold out on rails, for the interior partitions to become exterior walls.
Throughout the day, the whole building would also be able to rotate—to follow the direction of the sun.
“It was originally devised as a home for Lapland to deal with extreme temperatures,” Woolfson told Dezeen. “Not many people know it, but they have warm summers and also really cold winters.”
However, this ever-changing house is still far from reality, as Woolfson added: “We’re still deciding how it would work in reality.”
If this house really exists in the future, the lamp that tells the weather and annual season clock would fit in nicely, don’t you think?
