Frustrated with the unreliability of existing toasters to produce the perfect piece of toast, interaction designer Basheer Tome has created a color-sensing toaster that is capable of toasting bread to the user’s preferred shade of brown.
Realizing that most toasters operate on time settings that are inconsistent across brands and models, the designer developed ‘Hue’, a “seeing” toaster that ensure that the bread is browned precisely as desired.
“Hue harnesses the power of an array of color sensors via a simple interface in order to intuitively and smartly toast bread to that perfect shade of golden brown."
With Hue, toasting bread need no longer be a “gamble requiring users to anxiously hover over their device”.
