Paris-based photo retoucher Christian Girotto and French photographer Quentin Curtat has teamed up to produced a series of portraits—named “The Outer Child”—that literally brings out the inner child in their grown-up subjects.
By transposing the heads of adults to the undersized bodies of children, the duo created images that look odd but not completely unrealistic, as the faces possess child-like qualities—such as large doe-eyes, chubby cheeks and naive expressions.
According to Girotto, “somewhere inside each of us, there's a young core, instinctive, creative but also innocent and naïve”—these manipulated portraits aims to reveal this intimate essence.
While these pictures are amusing to look at, there is also something disconcerting about them—perhaps this is why our inner children stay on the inside.
Would you want to see a portrait of your inner child?
