The animal kingdom never ceases to amaze—RTÉ Radio 1 reported on a cat that has adopted a trio of ducklings and is “nursing” them alongside her own kittens.
Found in County Offaly, Ireland, the motherly feline is captured in a fascinating video, where she can be seen to be very protective of her brood—bring the camera a little closer and she will unfurl her claws threateningly as a warning.
While it has been noted that ducklings are technically incapable of suckling milk—they are after all, not mammals—they could still be seen cuddling up to their adopted cat mother, probably for warmth.
Watch a sweet video of Clara the cat and her young, both natural and adopted, below—videographer Maura Cunningham has also uploaded a video that gives an update on the unconventional little family six days after they were found.
