In Paris, A Bar That Sells Food With Edible Packaging

Wikifoods, the company that developed edible food packaging, has opened a bar in Paris.

Called ‘Wikibar’, it will sell products enclosed in edible skins such as yoghurt, ice cream, cheese—and possibly cocktails.

Created by Harvard professor David Edwards, the edible skins can be made into various forms and sizes, and can contain liquids, emulsions, foams, or solid food.

Designed as an effort to reduce waste, the customer will be able to eat the food together with its packaging.

The Wikibar is the currently the first in a proposed chain of bars by the WikiFoods company and it has plans to open a second outlet in Massachusetts.

Popup and mobiles bars are also expected to open in the near future.

Is this the future for food and drinks?
