Vogue US Releases Its Thickest Issue Ever: 916 Pages

The US edition of the fashion magazine Vogue said on Thursday, 9 August 2012, that its upcoming September issue will be its biggest ever.

The record-breaking 916-page edition will feature pop diva Lady Gaga on its cover, and is scheduled to hit newsstands in the United States on 21 August—it also marks the influential Conde Nast title’s 120th anniversary.

The cover picture, taken by fashion photography duo Mert & Marcus and styled by Grace Coddington, features Gaga donning a fuchsia Marc Jacobs off-shoulder mermaid gown and a platinum afro.

Not counting the hundred pages of advertising, the magazine spread also includes photographs of the singer.

One of which has her photographed with no clothes and minimal makeup, wearing a pink ostrich feathers hat by Stephen Jones.

“It is our biggest issue ever,” a Vogue spokesperson said in a statement, although the fact is not trumpeted on a cover that promises “916 pages of spectacular fall fashion for all”.

The coveted fall-issue of the magazine is widely regarded as the most important issue of the year—as it gets released in time for spring-summer pret-a-porter shows in New York, Milan and Paris.

The September 2007 issue, that weighed 2.27kg and consisted of 840 pages, was the subject of a documentary ‘The September Issue’ by R J Cutler in 2009.
