In collaboration with Nikon Professional Services and composer Andrew Kesler, photographer Benjamin von Wong has produced an awesome “symphony” with the shutter sounds made by $30,000 worth of DSLR cameras.

With the shutter sounds alone, there was not enough musical and sound variance, so von Wong and his team started experimenting with other sound-producing functions, such as live view up/down, mirror up/down and even the custom beep volumes.

The process initially involved dropping one of the cameras, but the idea was dropped and the team settled with “simply” slamming the camera down to create the desired sound.

Scroll down to watch and listen to this unusual symphony—there is also a behind-the-scene video that shows how everything came together.
