Artist Delicately Burns Intricate, Lace-Like Patterns To Create Stunning Image

Artist Myriam Dion, whose intricate newspaper cuttings we have previously featured, has created a new piece of artwork entitled ‘For Small Fires’ inspired by the disappearing art of ornamental blacksmithing.

Taking a 250cm long by 150cm tall image of an old storefront, she delicately burned beautiful and intricate patterns into it, creating latticed and lace-like window displays where there was previously only clear glass.

When a light is shone, the art piece casts a larger-than-life shadow on the wall behind it, further highlighting the painstaking amount of work the artist has put in.
