To bring across the message that things may not be what they seem in cases of domestic violence, Italian artist aleXsandro Palombo has created a thought-provoking series of illustrations that depicts famous “happily-ever-after” cartoon couples in scenes of domestic violence.
Featuring fictional couples such as Cinderella and Prince Charming, Marge and Homer Simpson from The Simposons and Popeye and Olive, these disturbing drawings show us the another sides of the stories that we know so well.
Titled “What Kind of Man Are You?”, this series is accompanied by the tagline, “Stop violence against women”—by highlighting how domestic violence can be happening to women who are in supposedly good relationships, they urges viewers to look out for telling signs of battered women around them.
