Google is reportedly planning to open its first retail store in the US in New York City’s fashionable SoHo neighborhood, just steps away from an Apple store.
According to a report by Crain’s New York Business, the internet giant is said to be looking at leasing an 8,000-square-feet space at 131 Greene Street.
Google’s decision to open a brick-and-mortar store suggests it is moving into hardware, and reads as a strategic move to push its range of Chromebook laptops, Android and Nexus phones and tablets, and Google Glass, among other products.
There is no word yet on when the store will open, according to VentureBeat.
