Italian startup 2045Tech has created Floome, a stylish personal-use breathalyzer powered by your smartphone.
To use Floome, all you have to do is plug in the Floome device into the headphone jack of your smartphone and blow into it. Your phone then displays your Blood Alcohol Content on the screen.
Taking the idea one step further, you can also enter your height and weight and Floome will calculate the number of minutes you will need to wait before it is safe to drive home.
When the time is up, the device sets sends you a prompt to take one more test before you get behind the wheel.
According to its makers, Floome uses the same fuel-cell sensors as police-grade breathalyzers, making it as accurate as a police-grade breathalyzer
Apparently, making the breathalyzer usable on your smartphone is something that people were waiting for, seeing how the company’s Indiegogo campaign reached its target within eight days.
The product will retail for USD80 each.
