Outdoor sportswear brand The North Face has leveraged 28-year-old Alex Honnold to create a unique piece of brand content that sees Honnold attempting a rope-free climb of a 2,500-foot high limestone wall in the Mexican town of El Portrero Chico.

The wall is known as El Sendero Luminoso, and this free-solo ascent is one of Honnold’s most ambitious climbs to date.

The entire process was filmed by photographer and fellow climber Cedar Wright, a friend of Honnold’s. He says, “It’s just kind of weird helping your friend do something that you know could potentially lead to his death."

But Honnold managed to successfully complete his climb up the precarious cliffs. When he was interviewed after his climb, Honnold said that "It felt pretty straightforward,", and "Once I started up, I was like, This is awesome. I didn't blow a single foot—like a ballerina."

The short documentary produced after this event is an excellent fit with the rugged and bold The North Face brand, but it is definitely not for the faint of heart or those with a fear of heights.
