John Brownlee of Fast Co. Design has recently published an article about the Olympic Games logos of the past 100 years, which is accompanied by a slideshow of all the logos used between 1924 and 2020.
Titling his article 100 Years of Olympic Logos: A Depressing History of Design Crime, it is clear right from the start that he thinks most of these high profile logos did not make the mark.
One of the most interesting aspect of the slideshow is how it allows us to identify the logo design trends that came and went throughout the last century.
For instance, while much of the early 20th century was marked by formal-looking, black and white logos, the 1990s and early 2000s saw the advent of more abstract and colorful styles.
What do you think of these Olympic logos and which one is your favorite? View the entire slideshow over here.
