The Kansas City Public Library’s parking garage is painted to look like a gigantic shelf of books.
This installation can be found along the south wall of the library’s parking garage, which is on 10th Street between Wyandotte Street and Baltimore Avenue.
The spines of these painted books are made of signboard mylar, and measure 25 by 9-feet. The featured titles were suggested by readers and selected by The Kansas City Public Library Board of Trustees.
This “Community Bookshelf” has “titles” ranging from Tolkien’s The Lord Of The Rings to the poetry of Langston Hughes. This illusion has probably delighted book lovers as they pass by.
Have you spotted any larger-than-life works in your neighborhood lately?
