To add to the few Disney-operated Starbucks outlets inside Disney’s theme parks, the coffee chain has just opened its first company-owned store on a Disney property at Downtown Disney of Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California.
Created by the Starbucks in-house design team, this unique store is filled with new technology and special elements, including an unusual plant wall façade, a huge video screen and an interactive touchscreen that customers can draw and write on.
The expansive space seats up to 150 coffee-drinkers and offers “some very rare coffees from its Starbucks Reserve coffee line and its Clover brewing system”—the store is also built to LEED standards around an old tree , with its interiors partially made using reclaimed wood from old railway boxcars.
According to Arthur Rubinfeld, chief creative officer and president, global innovation for Starbucks, this special outlet in Downtown Disney—a non-admission retail and entertainment area of the resort that is visited by both locals and tourists—is meant to be “a respite for people who have walked around the park all day”.
