A High Fashion Collection That Is Inspired By McDonald’s Employee Uniforms

At the recent Fall/Winter 2014 Milan Fashion Week, fashion house Moschino unveiled a collection by creative director Jeremy Scott that took inspiration from global fast food giant McDonald’s.

Referencing the chain’s red and yellow color scheme and iconic golden arches, many of the pieces that were shown at the brand’s runway show are reminiscent of the uniforms that the fast food franchise’s employees wear.

While this may make for a quirky statement for the fashionable crowd, actual McDonald’s employees have found the collection “offensive” and accused Moschino of “mocking” minimum wage workers.

In the words of former McDonald’s employee Mia Brusendorff, “Knowing someone will pay $1,000 for clothing inspired by McDonald's workers who earn minimum wage is a mockery.”

The collection also features other unlikely sources of inspiration, such as food packaging and popular cartoon character Spongebob Squarepants.
