Artist Creates Underwater Marine Parks With His Intriguing Sculptures

Bankers

Sculptor and diving instructor Jason deCaires Taylor has been creating underwater marine parks that are the first of their kind. They are populated with his fascinating and thought-provoking concrete sculptures.

The parks, which are located off the coasts of Mexico and Grenada, feature themes ranging from abstract to scenes from the 21st Century, like bankers sticking their heads in the sand, or a couch potato having a burger in front of his television set.

The purpose of his sculptures is partly due to marine conservation, where the sculptures provide a base for corals to proliferate, and also to draw visitors towards the park and away from endangered coral reefs.
