Find Your ‘Social Soulmate’ With This Innovative Experiential Installation

Experiential marketing agency MKG has collaborated with artists Lauren McCarthy and Kyle McDonald to create ‘Social Soul’, an immersive digital installation that made its debut at this year’s TED conference in Vancouver that was just concluded.

The installation, which is sponsored by Delta Airlines, surrounds users with a 360-degree stream of mirrors and monitors in order to immerse them fully in the experience of “how does it feel to be inside someone else’s social media stream?”

The moment a user enters the installation, a custom algorithm is used to match the streams of other TED attendees and speakers with their own, and visuals of the streams are displayed all around.

When they exit, users and their matched ‘social soulmate’ receive a tweet encouraging them to interact offline and in real time.
