Movable Wall Reveals An Additional Room In Compact 390-Square-Foot NYC Apartment

Tucked away in a 1920s co-op building located in the Gramercy Park neighborhood of Manhattan, is this 390-square-foot apartment that received a makeover by Michael K Chen Architecture.

The result is a clean and contemporary design sporting practical features such as covered storage spaces.

However, the highlight has to be the apartment’s mobile wall, which was installed to maximize space. This mechanized sliding feature tears away from another wall to reveal a clothing storage area and fold-down queen-sized bed.

The television can be rotated 180 degrees for viewing in the seating area or bedroom.

When the bed is closed and the wall pushed back to its original position, the living space is expanded, giving the owner room to accommodate and entertain guests.
