It has been 40 years since a human being last step foot on the moon—and a US start-up company would like to bring mankind back there, on a regular basis.

Proposing what is essentially a shuttle service to the moon,—pun intended—the Golden Spike Company aims to make private expeditions to the moon feasible and affordable without government funding.

While the technology already exist to make space travel possible, the cost of undertaking routine expeditions to the moon is extremely hefty—the first mission would require US$7-8 billion.

Planning to market its services to governments, corporations and the ultra-wealthy, a return ticket to the moon is estimated to be US$750 million per person.

Would you pay such a high price to “extend your reach” to the moon?
