A Wooden Light Bulb That Actually Illuminates

Kyoto-based product designer Ryosuke Fukusada has created a wooded light bulb that is more than just a piece of conceptual design—it is actually functional and capable of radiating light.

The award-winning LED light bulb is a “ mix of modern design and traditional craft technique”—utilizing the Japanese woodwork technique of Rokuro, its wooden shell is chipped extremely thinly, allowing light is able to shine through.

A minimalist socket made of aluminium adds a modern touch to this unusual light bulb that glows softly in the dark.
