Canadian illustrator Ellen Mackay creates whimsical dioramas that portray dream-like fantasy scenes—all inside a 1 x 2-foot box.
MacKay constructs the box using a combination of papers—such as parchment paper, dollhouse wallpaper, Yupo paper and Mylar.
Using Yupo paper, she creates various imagery by coloring and cutting the paper, before finally setting them in place with wires and adhesives.
Once the boxhas been assembled, she experiments with lights and filters until she is happy with the desired atmosphere—capturing the various scenes on camera.
