Fruits Get Laser Tattoos To Replace Sticky Labels

Spanish company Laser Food has created a machine that is able to apply laser logos to fruits.

Tattoos in the form of barcodes, logos, or QR codes can be used to mark the fresh produce—and 54,000 fruits can be branded in an hour.

To brand the fruits, however, chemicals of iron oxides and hydroxides are used on the skin—to make the laser markings more obvious and avoid penetrating the skin, according to Dezeen.

The plus point of ‘tattooing’ the fruits is that it reduces the use of paper, plastic and glue in stickers, besides it being sold without its supply chain details.
