Photographer and digital artist Giovanni Bortolani’s series, “Fake Too Fake” questions what people mean when they say someone is “too beautiful to be real”.
He takes photographs of people in their underwear and then manipulates them to expose large scars or innards.
By making wounds appear on his subject’s bodies, the photographer wants to expose the amount of plastic surgery that people go through just to appear beautiful.
These scars also serves to show the boundaries between what is “real” and “fake”, which make these pictures even more disturbing.
