A Chair Designed To Look Like The Body Of An Obese Person

Nanna Kiil, a design student at the Danish Academy of Fine Arts, has created a rather disturbing chair that is inspired by the body of an obese human being.

Aiming to cast a more positive light on over-weight bodies, she made the chair out of memory foam that is covered with a pink fabric, which mimicks the fleshy folds of a Shar Pei.

According to Kiil, “the intention is to explore the balance between the repulsive and the accommodating through voluminous curves”.

We imagine that sitting in it would feel like getting a bear hug from a jolly, fat uncle.

This chair will be on display at the Stockholm Furniture Fair until 8 February 2014.
