Architect and illustrator Federico Babina, whom we have previously featured here and here, has a new set of illustrations titled ‘Archiset’ featuring the film sets of famous movies.
Babina has replicated the film sets of iconic movies like The Shining and A Clockwork Orange, turning them into detailed cross sections showing their interiors and characters. The resulting illustrations look like doll houses with their miniature furniture and people.
In an interview with Dezeen, Babina said he wanted to envision a different way of entering and exploring a movie, and the movies selected were based on his favorite set designs. “The film, its atmosphere and script are a fundamental guide for the ideation and design of the posters.”
Each illustration includes key details and props that are integral to the film’s plot. For example, the illustration of the Overlook Hotel in The Shining features the creepy twin girls and an axe lodged in the door.
By depicting the set designs in a single frame, Babina takes viewers on a trip through the spaces occupied by the characters. Filled with details and clues that hint at the storylines, they are a nice visualization of the memorable scenes and interiors, something that both film and architect fans will appreciate.
