Artist Nathan Pyle, who previously taught us how to dine at a hipster restaurant and provided useful tips for living in New York City, has a new set of GIFs illustrating how to be a perfect gentleman in this article by BuzzFeed.
For example, a man should be confident in asking a lady out for dinner; if she declines he should respect her decision and accept it courteously. If she agrees, he should give her his full attention by making eye contact, putting away his mobile phone and asking creative questions. Other helpful tips include opening doors, letting her walk on the inside of pavements so her heels don’t get stuck in metal grates, and ensuring she gets home safe.
Pyle specifies that the tips are for men in New York City but they can be applied elsewhere too. Though most of them are common sense, it doesn’t hurt to be reminded of them once in awhile–having good manners leaves a favorable impression and always scores brownie points with the ladies.
As with his hipster dining tips, the examples are drawings that didn’t make the cut for his book NYC Basic Tips and Etiquette, which is available for pre-order on Amazon.
