The design of the takeaway coffee cup lid has remained largely unchanged for about 30 years—however, the longevity of its use does not necessarily mean that it is perfect and could not be improved upon.

Seattle-based company Vaporpath has recently debuted the “Viora Lid”, an innovative redesign of the to-go coffee cup lid that aims to make drinking coffee on-the-go more enjoyable.

The Viora Lid incorporates three key design enhancements to the traditional coffee lid. It not only better protects against spills by funneling them back into the cup, but also stimulates the more comfortable and secure experience of drinking from a ceramic mug. Lastly, a strategically placed and enlarged drink opening allows more aroma to be delivered to the drinker’s nose, thus boosting the taste of the coffee.

Odor-free and recyclable, the Viora Lid is open to orders on its website—do you think it would allow you to get more out of your expensive craft brews?
