September 11 Memorial Museum To Open, Exhibits Remnants Of The Tragic Day

More than a decade after 9/11, the September 11 Memorial Museum and Pavillion will be opening its doors to the public come 21 May 2014.

The façade is an "asymmetrical mix of metal and glass" incorporating stripes of mirrors and clear windows facing the skyline of NYC.

While the entrance of the museum is bright and "inviting", visitors can expect to pass through dimly lighted passages while viewing the artifacts.

Remnants of the Vesey Street stairs, also known as the "survivors' stairs", clothes covered in toxic rubble on clothing racks from the nearby Chelsea Jeans store, and metal leftovers from the Boeing 767 are a few of the many artifacts in the museum that"pays tribute to the event".
