German artist Claudia Puhlfürst has collaborated with the organisers of EHSM, which stands for Exceptionally Hard & Soft Meeting, a conference of science and informatics. They have come together to create the “world’s smallest” comic, engraving it on a human hair.
Puhlfürst drew the comic, and Andrew Zonenberg made use of focused ion beam (FIB) etching, in which a very sharp and high speed jet of matter is used to engrave the comic onto one strand of hair. This process is can be compared to using a fine laser beam.
The comic is called “Juana Knits The Planet” and shows how a young girl uses her creativity to bring the world to life.
