Gizmodo writer Jesus Diaz identified Apple’s three favorite typefaces and its new favorite.
According to Diaz, the three favorites were: Myriad, Lucida Grande and Helvetica Neue; and its latest—which would appear on OSX Mountain Lion and iOS 6—is ‘Avenir’.
The latest sans-serif typeface was designed by Adrian Frutiger in 1988, and is inspired by two old-school typefaces created in the 20s—‘Erbar’ by Jakob Erbar, and ‘Futura’ by Paul Renner.
The typefaces of the font family—namely Avenir, Avenir Next and Avenir Next Condensed, in various weights—will be included in the next OSX—although its suspected that Apple will not be using it in any of the applications.
What do you think of Apple’s new favorite?
