At The Olympics, Photographer Guides Lost Tourists In Exchange For A Portrait

While most photographers are busy capturing pictures of athletes at the London Olympics, Brooklyn-based photographer Caroll Taveras is more interested in capturing lost tourists.

Together with East-London agency Mother London, who also commissioned the project ‘You Are Here’, they find tourists who are lost and guide them to their intended destination in exchange for their portrait.

Volunteers from the agency assist Taveras by roaming the streets with placards and boards—taking lost tourists back to Taveras’ pop-up studio.

Once at the studio, the tourists are given food, water and a photo session with Taveras before being escorted to their destination.

The portraits will be posted on a dedicated Tumblr to create an ‘exhibition collage’—which Fast Company calls a “humanitarian outreach endeavor of saving tourists from themselves”.
