As part of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, BMW Group has introduced a little car that helps transport sports equipment across the field.
Called the ‘Mini MINI’, the electric vehicle delivers javelins, hammers, shots and discuses, to save time during competition.
It is a 1/4-scale replica of the full-sized ‘MINI E’, and measures 39-inches (110m) long and weighs 25kg.
Mini MINI also has fully-functional features of a 10-horsepower engine, dual-vented disc brakes, heavy-duty shock absorbers, front and rear grass tires, door handles, mirrors, wheel arch finishers, a removable sunroof panel, windscreen wipers and headlights.
The radio-controlled car can carry a load of up to 8kg.
According to BMW Group, it is powered by batteries that can sustain “35 minutes of continuous usage, with a radio control range of approximately 100 metres, and be fully re-charged in 80 minutes”.
The car waterproof equipment storage compartment.
Mini MINI travels about 6,000 meters each day for the ongoing games, and made its first appearance on Friday.
Only three of Mini MINIs were made, whether or not the company will officially produce the vehicles for sale is uncertain.
