Architects COBE, NORD, PK3 and Grontmij have collaborated to produce a ‘city’ for kids in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The ‘Prinsessegade Kindergarten and Youth Club’ will be the largest daycare center in Denmark.
Unlike regular daycare centers, the Prinsessegade will not be one huge building, but rather made up of a cluster of many small and varied buildings—which makes it like a ‘city’.
Wedged between two central streets, the Prinsessegade and the Christiana Free Town, on a triangular plot in the Copenhagen borough of Christianshavn—the Kids’ City has different neighborhoods, houses, public spaces, squares and parks.
It even has a city hall, a fire station, a restaurant, a stadium, and a factory.
The Prinsessegade is expected to be completed by 2014, to give children a space with facilities and tools for their needs.
