Hyper-Realistic, Incredibly Intricate Wood Carvings That Look Like Soft Fabrics

Taiwanese artist and sculptor Mary Leu creates amazingly realistic and detailed wooden sculptures of fabric-made items that could easily be mistaken for the real things.

Painstakingly carving out every minute detail, the artist replicates the wrinkly, soft texture of fabric with wood—the finished pieces display an astounding level of craftsmanship.

Transforming mundane laundry—such as socks, towels and underwear—into fascinating works of art, one can actually see the miniscule weaves of fabric imprinted on these wood-carved creations upon closer inspection.

Each piece is sculpted out of a single piece of boxwood and may take up to a year to complete.
