Pop-Up Mall Made Of Shipping Containers

New Zealand-based architect Anton Tritt has chosen shipping containers to build a temporary pop-up mall in Christchurch, New Zealand after the earthquake that struck the region last February.

Called the ‘Re:START pop-up mall’, it is an attempt to keep the local economy afloat and has flourished with over 30 retailers.

According to Tritt, he explained that shipping containers were chosen because they are strong, durable and could be easily dismantled and set up at another site.

Even though it was scheduled to be dismantled shortly after Easter next year, many organisers believe the site will remain intact due to its large followings and ever-growing popularity.
