We have previously featured Luke Jerram’s project that aims to turn a street into a giant waterslide, and it appears that the artist has managed to pull it off.

On 4 May 2014, many enthusiastic thrill-seekers sped down the waterslide on Bristol’s Park Street.

The 90-meter slide is made out of inflatable floats and tarpaulin sheets, and was greased with soapy water. Prior to this, a 50-meter prototype was made and passed a test that was administered by health and safety inspectors.

Nearly 100,000 people showed up to purchase tickets for the slide, but unfortunately not everyone had an opportunity to participate. Many people who were permitted to go on the slide also dressed up as their favorite superheroes or had on other quirky costumes.

“I'm just interested in thinking about our city in different ways,” the artist said. “If you just imagine, you could put slides all around Bristol[’s] connecting neighbourhoods.”

It looks like the artist is highly imaginative and has bigger plans in mind. We cannot wait to see what he will come up with next.
