Swedish graphic designer Viktor Hertz—who created these playful progress bars—made a series of cheerful pictograms in bright yellow to be used as signs in IKEA’s headquarters in Shanghai, China and Älmhult, Sweden.
Designed to mark the many rooms and functions in these offices, these pictogram signs range from the familiar to the rather unusual—for instance, a sign of a man with a pear represents the “Fruit Room” while another one depicting a table tennis game stands for “Ping Pong”.
In line with its fun and creative philosophy, some of these signs are also quite humorous—the signs for the toilets are variations of the traditional symbols, showing the male and female forms with their legs crossed.
