In NYC, Lingerie Store La Perla Removes Mannequin With Protruding Ribs

A man named Michael Rudoy, who is also known as @mrudoy on Twitter, observed that the La Perla lingerie store in New York City had displayed a skinny mannequin with protruding ribs and a concave stomach.

Angry, he took a photo and tweeted, “How does #LaPerla think ribs on a mannequin is ok?!”. Many Twitter users were as outraged as Rudoy, using this opportunity to voice out their displeasure with the company.

The tweet soon went viral and hours later, the mannequin was removed by a representative, who said that it would not be used again by the brand—“We are in the process of redesigning all La Perla stores with a new concept image and the mannequins that are currently displayed in our US stores will no longer be used.'

Many people are using social media to call out companies for projecting unrealistic beauty standards—what do you think of such whistleblowing?
