
French illustrator and designer Carole Gautier of My Name Is Wendy has created “Freaks”, an alphabet created from “a catalog of vector shapes and design sketches”.
This whimsical typeface features letters that are decorated with geometric patterns and intricate details, which make them look strange, freaky creatures that hails from a particularly rich imagination—an eye-like graphic motif recurs throughout the alphabet, giving each letter a fantastical liveliness.
According to the designer, as translated by Google Translate, the typeface represents “the eternal skirmish between functionality and expressiveness”.
